From Research Network to Global Alliance

People in underserved communities and low-resource settings lack access to mental health services. This traces to a shortage of trained providers, fragmented service delivery with little or no coordination across systems, low public awareness of treatable conditions, weak or absent national policy frameworks, and a thin evidence base on what actually works outside high-resource settings.

IDMHA was created to expand access to digital mental health training, resources, and capacity building in underserved communities worldwide. We build on the foundation of WADMA, an international research, capacity building, and educational network developed through NIH-funded work on digital mental health interventions in West Africa.

IDMHA brings together experts in digital mental health, psychiatry, clinical psychology, and public health. We provide free training and technical assistance in the design and implementation of digital mental health interventions, support organizations in building their capacity to deliver digitally-enabled services, and develop resources that help practitioners and communities address mental health needs through digital tools.

We engage and connect mental health practitioners, organizations, and policymakers across underserved communities to build networks that drive locally grounded, globally informed innovation. Through these networks, partners develop the skills and knowledge necessary to advance digital mental health in their communities, with ongoing consultation and technical assistance from IDMHA.
